We were drawn to San Clemente because of a delightful climate and the nearness to the ocean. We like to be in the fresh air to entertain and exercise. We are here because we care about our community. We want to make our community even better by providing “extras” for our beaches, parks and open spaces and to do this, the San Clemente Beaches, Parks and Recreation Foundation was formed in 2000. The SCBPRF is a vehicle to assist the City in meeting its park and recreation goals, to provide a consistent funding source for projects and programs that would otherwise be delayed, might not occur, or would be discontinued due to lack of funding sources.

The Friends of San Clemente Beaches, Parks and Recreation Foundation is a nonprofit, tax exempt California corporation. Members of the Board of Directors serve in a voluntary capacity to guide the Foundation in its goals to help the City Recreation Department. Additional volunteers and members participate in programs and projects.

What We Do...

The mission of the San Clemente Beaches, Parks and Recreation Foundation is to receive, invest, and distribute funds, property and other resources to aid, sponsor, promote, advance and assist in the provision of public parks and beaches, recreation, cultural and educational services in the City of San Clemente.

In our short existence, working with the city’s recreation department, we have had a number of successes:

• Created the SeniorNet Cyber Cafe which has served over 4500 students
• Provided bleachers for the skateboard park
• Assisted with funding for summer beach concerts
• Provided scholarships for recreation class tuition for young people
• Assisted the city with annual skateboard tournaments
• Support a sports thrift exchange where gently used equipment is available for purchase
• Funded Winter Carnival snow hill
• Coordinated the San Clemente Bicycle Challenges
• Worked with the Dog Lovers to create the city dog parks
