Programs

La Pata Vista Hermosa Community Park – The Foundation has a contract with the City to act as the park’s marketer in identifying commercial organizations desiring the naming rights for sporting fields and various aspects of the aquatic center. Additional benefits to participating organizations may additionally include recognition in the programs and schedules of youth sports groups, use of the facility one or more weekends per year, recognition tiles in the aquatic center headquarters, identification on the Foundation website, among other benefits. The Foundation is also the conduit for individual donations from service clubs and individuals. Foundation representatives are members of the Park’s fundraising committee that consists of members from the City of San Clemente, the SC Beaches, Parks, and Recreation Commission, as well as the Foundation. To date, Pacific Coast National Bank has committed $100,000 over a five-year period for a baseball field in its name, the SC Aquatic Club (SCAT) has set aside $30,000 for the pool and the Foundation has accumulated $20,000 for the aquatic complex. Individual business and citizen donations have reached close to $19,000.

Courtney’s Sandcastle – Momentarily at a “hold” position because of the recent national real estate crisis the developer of the Marblehead Coastal Commercial project has also committed $600,000 to the Sandcastle, which will be realized as lots are sold to new buyers. Nonetheless, the Foundation still desires that this dream become a reality and is representing young Courtney’s long held desire for a tot lot specially built for both able and disabled children. The San Clemente Kiwanis Club has contributed $1,000 and the Beach Angels group another $2,100 for this project.

Cyber Café Computer Center – Along with several of the projects the Foundation has initiated are new programs/projects as experiments that may be added to the City’s recreation and educational programs. The Cyber Café is one of them. Beginning as the SeniorNet Cyber Café, the computer learning endeavor only attracted older adults. During the past year, it was felt that citizens of all ages could be served. The Foundation dropped its affiliation with the national Senior Net program and set out on its own with nine new computers purchased by the Foundation.

Other programs and affiliations – The Foundation stands ready to work with any organization, especially non-profit groups, wanting to serve the recreation and cultural of our community. It the past, the Foundation has incubated both the Dog Lovers Association and the Amphitheatre Association to enable them to become self-sufficient non profit organizations.
